Corona Covid-19
So, this year has not had the greatest start. Actually, in the first 3 months, we would say, “well, I guess it can’t get much worse!” And boy were were wrong.
The year started off with major wildfires in Australia. The fires burned tens of millions of acres. At least one billion animals were believed to have died in the fires.

On Jan 26, Kobe and Gigi Bryant, along with seven other passengers, died in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California. A huge stake through the hearts of, not only all Angelinos, but the world.
In February, I lost one of my oldest friends (of ~30 years). We also lost the father of one of my other old friend (~35 years).
Then of course, in March (although it was making its way around the world since about Nov), Covid-19 hits and turned the world upside down. The world as we know it stopped…
I won’t curse myself by saying “it can only get better.” I think we have all used learned our lesson from 2020.
One of the cool technology strides we have taken however, is how people/companies are using big data and analytics to keep people informed of the spread, trends and overall understanding of the virus. One such tools is the one from Johns Hopkins.

The smart people at Johns Hopkins have developed this dashboard aggregating data from WHO, CDC, ECDC, NHC, DXY, 1point3acres, Worldometers.info, BNO, the COVID Tracking Project (testing and hospitalizations), state and national government health departments, and local media reports.
The dashboard was started by Professor Lauren Gardner, a civil engineering professor at Johns Hopkins University, and built with her graduate student, Ensheng Dong. The map is updated in real time and allows you to download the data for your own uses.
